Dictionary: Coefficient
A coefficient is the number that stands in front of a variable in a mathematical expression.
3x² + 5x + 2
In the expression above, 3 is the coefficient of x², and 5 is the coefficient of x.
Remember: The coefficient is always the number directly in front of the variable.
Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.
— Albert Einstein (1879–1955)
